Taster session

You need no previous kayaking experience. Maximum 4 people per guide.

£59 per person for half day. Prices are based on a minimum of 2 people.

Minimum requirements:

You are happy in the water, part of the first learning is getting in and out of the kayak so you need to be happy to get wet during your first introductory session.  
You are an active person for example: able to lift and carry a  kayak (approximately 30kg) with a buddy, able to get up and down from the floor easily and sit comfortably with your legs out in front of you.
You also need to be able to follow instructions, happy to work in a small group and generally keen to have a go.

Individual or specific needs sessions by arrangement.

What do I need to know?

Where do we meet? Following booking we will agree a place to meet accounting for the weather etc

Do I need to hire anything? I supply boat, deck, paddle and buoyancy aid this is included in the price. If you dont have a wetsuit you may want to hire one. Please see “what do I need to wear?” re wetsuits.

Does your kit fit every size? No, but it fits a broad range. You will be asked about your weight height and shoe size on the booking form to ensure a suitable kayak.

Will I get wet? Yes it is important to be happy to get in the water at least once.

Will I need to swim ? It is important to be happy in the water, and be able to move yourself about, your bouyancy aid will help you float.

What do I need to wear? Wet suit and wetsuit boots or shoes are ideal. If you do not have a wetsuit and the weather is good you can wear swimwear and quick dry clothing such as running leggings and shirt and some old trainers (this is only recomended in the height of summer). If you do not have a wetsuit you will need to bring 2 sets of kayaking clothes so you can change after getting wet. Wetsuits are available for day hire from Ocean High in Marazion, and other local Surf outlets in Hayle, Sennen and Praa sands. Finisterre offer a 5 day wetsuit hire delivered to your door.

What else do I need to bring? A hot drink, a cold drink and a snack. A set of warm clothes (these you will keep dry). If you have a dry bag or waterproof bag bring this. A warm jacket to put on when we have a break. Sunscreen if it is sunny. A sense of humour!

guided trips in the beautiful Isles of Scilly. This is a great chance to enjoy a sea kayaking holiday early in the season. May is an excellent time to paddle and explore the Scilly isles. Spring is underway, all the wild flowers are coming out and you are ahead of peak tourist season. The islands are steeped in history as well as being visually stunning. They provide options for more or less exposed paddling.

Advanced trips: 4 places

We will base ourselves from Pelistry Campsite on St Mary’s. Here we have large pre erected scout style tents for sleeping and 2 large communal tents set up as kitchen and dining tents for cooking and shelter. There is direct access to a beach launch from the campsite, (beautiful Pelistry see the main IOS picture) so any swimmers in the group can take a morning dip with ease!

With its stunning coastline of pristine waters, caves and stacks Shetland offers a lifetime of coastline to explore.

This is an 8 day intermediate to advanced sea kayaking trip for those with significant paddling experience. We will day trip from a base camp with the possibility of nights camping out from our kayaks.

Cost includes a 2 day group meet up and preparatory skills paddle on Angelsey in March. Guides will be Micro Goldhausenof Sea Kayaking Angelsey and myself, Jackie Jones.
